Ilyas Sayeg, Esq.
Ilyas Sayeg’s legal experience focuses on the intersection of consumer protection law and healthcare. At Maglio Christopher & Toale, PA, Mr. Sayeg’s practice focuses on representing people, nationwide, who are injured by defective hip implants (including, among others, the DePuy ASR, Zimmer Durom, Stryker Rejuvenate, and Biomet Magnum). He believes that medical device manufacturers have an absolute duty to ensure the safety of their products prior to sale. Mr. Sayeg litigates these complex cases in state and federal courts around the country.
Mr. Sayeg graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law. While there, he was invited to be part of a groundbreaking clinical partnership between the Law and Medical Schools at the University of Miami. Helping treat patients at the Miami VA Hospital as part of a comprehensive and interdisciplinary team of medical, legal, and social service professionals, Mr. Sayeg came up with an innovative approach to tailoring an aphasic patient’s medical treatment in a manner that would satisfy her legal needs. This case study was thereafter published by the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare and Mr. Sayeg presented the novel approach to medical professionals from around the world at the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare.
Mr. Sayeg is actively involved in his legal and local community. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and its New Lawyers Division. Respecting the growing importance of E-discovery in complex litigation, Mr. Sayeg is also a member of Working Group 1 of The Sedona Conference. Mr. Sayeg is active with the Sarasota County Bar Association, where he served on the executive board of the Young Lawyers Division and presently serves as a member of the Diversity Committee. Furthermore, Mr. Sayeg was selected by his peers to be a member of the John M. Scheb Inns of Court where he has won the President's Outstanding Service Award. Additionally, Mr. Sayeg is a member of the Young Professionals Group of the Sarasota County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sayeg is also a board member of the ACE Mentoring Program, an engineering-focused high school mentorship program in Sarasota County.
