Liya B. Mogese, Paralegal
Liya B. Mogese is a Paralegal in the Firm’s Washington, DC office handling vaccine injury cases.
She grew up in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. During her senior year in high school at Lycée Guebre Mariam, Liya received a scholarship – Bourse d’ Excellence Majeure and had the opportunity to pursue her studies in Toulouse, France at Université Paul Sabatier. She lived there for four and a half years and obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology, majoring in Microbiology. In May 2014, Ms. Mogese moved to Silver Springs, MD to continue her education in paralegal studies. She has earned her Paralegal Studies Certificate from Montgomery College.
During Ms. Mogese’s second year at University, she worked as a Research Assistant at Centre de Biologie du Développement, focusing on the study of the characteristics of αTRPC1 canal of a Xenopus Laevis embryo. Additionally, in 2012, she worked as an English and Biology teacher at Confédération Syndicale des Familles (CSF) and helped middle school students from underprivileged communities develop learning skills. More recently in 2015, Liya taught French lessons to adult students at Fluent City in Washington, DC.

Skills and Hobbies
Ms. Mogese can speak Amharic (native) and French fluently. In her free time, she enjoys watercolor painting, watching movies with friends and family, and playing tennis. Liya is an active member of Ethiopian Community Gospel Church and helps organize youth bible study programs, fundraising, and faith-related events.
